On Sunday at Vel Tech, the Avadi Night Marathon 2023 will hold its second iteration. The Avadi Police Commissionerate, Chennai Runners, Vel Tech, and Velammal Nexus collaborated to create the event. The purpose of the event is to promote health and fitness among the populace. Its purpose is to advance the “Drug Free Tamil Nadu” movement. According to a press release, night marathons are becoming more common among runners. A half marathon, a 10 km run, and a 5 km run are all part of the event. At 6:00 p.m., the marathon will begin under the direction of Director-General of Police and Chief of Police Force C. Sylendra Babu.
Ambulances and hydration stations are situated at key locations for the benefit of the runners. There may be about 3,500 runners present. Buses have been set up from Thirumangalam Metro Rail Station and Avadi Railway Station up to the event venue to make it easier for runners to get there. All heavy trucks traveling from Minjur towards Vandular up to Vel Tech College would be detoured at three locations between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., at Panneervakkam, Vijayanallur, and Konimedu Junction, in order to support the marathon.

Eligibility Criteria For Avadi Night Marathon 2023
- Participants in the 5km race must be 15 years old (as of October 2, 2023) or older.
- Participants must be at least 18 years old (as of the second of October 2023) to participate in the 10 and 21.097km distances.
